Today THE ROOF, a short film written by Nigel Williams and directed by Natalie Abrahami, is available on the Young Vic website:

The full cast of the film is: Natalie Dormer, Noma Dumezweni, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Rory Kenner, David Lan, Jude Law, Marcello Magni, Ian McKellen, Sinead Matthews and High Skinner.

David Lan, artistic director of the Young Vic said: “We had great fun making THE ROOF, a brief comedy about an unexpected visit from a legendary theatre maker and his legion of fans. It is a little celebration of the art of the theatre. We were thrilled to have so many brilliant theatre people willing to help us make it.

The Young Vic’s short films are a fourth stage for the theatre, reaching more than 500,000 people since 2012. Previous shorts include The Departure written by Andrew O’Hagan and directed by and starring Gillian Anderson; MAYDAY written by Nancy Harris, directed by Natalie Abrahami and starring Juliet Stevenson; Columbite Tantalite written and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The Young Vic produces classics, new plays, forgotten works, musicals and opera, and tours widely in the UK and internationally. It has deep roots in its neighbourhood and extensive co-producing relationships with leading theatres all over the world.
