The summer Proud Camden is thrilled to present THE DONKEY SHOW: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DISCO, a sexy and psychedelic reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s iconic play from the co-creators of The Box.
From 9th June – 21st August, the critically acclaimed ultimate disco returns to London for the first time in fifteen years after a hugely popular seven-year run in New York. To mark the 400th anniversary since Shakespeare’s death, Proud Camden will welcome THE DONKEY SHOW; an unmissable experience inspired by the classic story of love, magic and mishaps, reimagined to include dancers, disco balls and a retro seventies soundtrack. The show’s creator Randy Weiner has said, “We are thrilled that THE DONKEY SHOW is returning to the UK. The good people of London have always been our best audience with their great love in equal measure of dancing and Shakespeare.”
Featuring classic disco hits including I Will Survive, Carwash, We Are Family and You Sexy Thing. THE DONKEY SHOW is A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Studio 54. This audacious show will feature acrobats, disco divas, aerial artists and fire breathers as part of an immersive theatrical experience in renowned nightspot, Proud Camden.
Watched by over a million people worldwide, this new production of the smash-hit show will be directed by Ryan Mcbride (Saturday Night Fever), designed by award-winning designer Diego Pitarch (Fiddler on the Roof) and choreographed by Lucy Ridley (Secret Cinema). The Show will be produced in association with Dan Looney, Jason Haigh-Ellery and executive producer Alex Proud.
Put on your dancing shows and immerse yourself in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DISCO; an immersive and daring mix of musical theatre, dance and circus that invites the audience to live out their fantasies as the ultimate disco experience unfolds around them.
